On the first Friday after Labor Day, check out the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival in Jefferson, WI.  It is THE festival in the midwest for all things sheep, wool and fiber arts related.  The three day festival is celebrating its 12th anniversary in 2013.  We are expecting over 600 sheep to be on the fairgrounds this year, over 100 dogs running in the Stock dog trial and more than 130 vendors with gifts, yarn, cheese, etc – and last year’s “people” attendance was over 6000.

In addition to the sheep, there are herding dog trials, classes for shepherds (from novice through experienced), classes for fiber artists (spinning, knitting, basket weaving, rug hooking and more), vendors selling fleeces, yarns, finished products, baskets, spinning wheels, looms and more, sheep shows, shearing demonstrations, food, the state Make it Yourself with Wool competition - take a look at the web site for more information.
