50th Anniversary Tours at the Helen Louise Textile Collection

February 28, 2019

5:30-8:00PM

Please join us as we help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Helen Louise Textile Collection at the University of Wisconsin.

There will be two docent-led tours of both textile collection exhibits: One of a Kind, Ahead of her Time: The Legacy of Helen Louise Allen, and Applique to Zardozi: A Celebration Sampler. Tours will take place at 6:00pm and 7:00pm.

This special event is for Madison Knitters Guild members and students of the Center for Design and Material Culture. There will be an opportunity to learn or teach how to knit a washcloth. We are looking for 6 volunteers from the Guild who would be willing to help teach someone. Please email Ginger Swart at vyswart@gmail.com to volunteer!

Dishcloths can then be donated to either the Textile Collection for the SoHE preschool or to the Guild's community projects.

Light refreshments will be included.

Space is limited on the tours, and the Guild has 40 slots available. Additional slots may open up closer to the date. If all 40 spots fill up, a waiting list will be created.

The Helen Louise Textile Collection is located in the Nancy Nicholas Hall, 1300 Linden Dr, Madison, WI 53706.

Parking: The Collection suggests parking in Lot 20 or under the building in Lot 27 which has limited spots, all for a fee. Street parking may also be available. Click parking lots on map for real time availability http://map.wisc.edu/
