The KAL Kickoff Meeting #1!

To co-ordinate with our October and November speakers, JC Briar and Romi Hill, the theme of this year’s Knit-ALong (KAL) is Lace! We’ll be offering two KALs in parallel: one for a “true” lace project and a second for a “not-quite-lace” project:

Not-Quite-Lace KAL: the Clapotis

We’ll start in September with a Not-Quite-Lace KAL led by Ada Lai to knit the Clapotis by Kate Gilbert.

What you should have for this KAL:

Yarn: any weight from fingering to heavy worsted (Aran); any yardage (recommended at least 300 yds, but can be less for a more narrow scarf, no limit to max yardage except the desired size of the scarf/shawl)
Needles: whatever size you like to give you a nice drape-y fabric in stockinette stitch; a long circular is highly recommended, esp. if you want a large shawl
Stitch markers: optional, but highly recommended; 15-20 recommended. Make sure they are easy to slide on and off needles
Optional, but highly recommended: unwaxed dental floss or other smooth thread/cord to use for "safety lines"
Optional: a digital kitchen scale that can weigh in grams

Please register for this event so we know how many copies of the handouts to bring. This also allows us to notify you of any updates to this information. No need to cancel if you can't make it. You can also attend without registration. Handouts will be available at all subsequent KAL meetings.

In October: "True" Lace KAL

In October, we'll continue with the Clapotis, and add the “True” Lace KAL. Led by Ruth Cadoret, this KAL will focus on any pattern by Romi Hill or JC Briar. You can do one project or many.
