Once upon a time, Edie Eckman owned a yarn shop. She found that she was more interested in helping customers explore their Yarny Side than in keeping shop, so she closed the store and turned her energies to enabling crocheters and knitters. As a Professional Yarn Enabler, Edie encourages crafters to learn both the "how" and the "why" of new techniques, building self-confidence in making decisions, and leading to happier project outcomes.
This Professional Enabling takes many forms, including:
-
teaching in person nationwide, and online at Craftsy.com and Creativebug.com
-
writingarticles and books, including The Crochet Answer Book and Around the Corner Crochet Borders
-
designing for yarn companies, magazines, and her own line of patterns
-
editing fiber arts books and serving as technical editor for knitting and crochet patterns
-
serving as Master Teacher for Craft Yarn Council Certified Instructors Program
As a lifelong learner, Edie knows that it can be challenging to learn new skills: patience with ourselves is an important key to stress-free learning. Whether teaching, designing, writing or editing, Edie's goal is to help every knitter or crocheter to become calm, comfortable, and confident with their craft.
