FROM UNDERWEAR TO EVERYWHERE: THE NORWEGIAN SWEATER
Saturday, April 2, 2016 7:30 am- 7:30 pm
Nothing says Norwegian quite like a Norwegian sweater.
Coming from humble beginnings as a warm layer under a vest and jacket, Norwegian sweaters are now worn as outer wear all over the world and for almost every occasion. This exhibition will focus on the history and different styles of Norwegian sweaters, including Setesdal, Fana, Marius, and Olympic. Learn about the symbolism behind some of the patterns and colors on sweaters and consider both the technology and artistry of this iconic garment.
The day in Decorah will also include free time to explore the charming downtown for lunch on your own a visit to the Blue Heron Knittery and other local shopping.
Don't Delay! Sign up early for this day of fun, history, culture and shopping with fellow knitters from the Guild.
