MKG Brown Bag Exchange
What is the Brown Bag Exchange? This is an opportunity to make a practical gift for a fellow knitter. The 2024-25 theme is “Walking In A Winter Wonderland.” Participants will receive yarn to make warm outerwear accessories for their partner to walk outside in a Wisconsin winter. All experience levels are welcome! Your act of kindness will be rewarded with your own warm winter accessories made for you. Outerwear accessories could include a combination of: hat, cowl, scarf, dickie, balaclava, mittens, gloves, leg warmer, etc. Use your creativity and use up the yarn! It is knitter’s choice how many knitted items are created.
There are two versions of the exchange (in-person or virtual/remote)
1. In-Person Brown Bag Exchange at the 11-11-24 MKG meeting at Barnwood Events.
· Participants provide 400-500 yards of yarn which is put into a plain brown paper bag. The bag includes information on yarn weight, fiber content, and potential household allergens.
· Participants are matched up with a Partner (taking into consideration preferences and allergies noted on their registration form) and take away a brown bag of their partner’s yarn at the November meeting.
· Registration is preferred online and includes the opportunity to indicate allergies, reasonable preferences. You can also register in-person at the 11/11 meeting if you are unable to register online.
· Participants knit something out of the yarn in the bag over the next six months. Finished objects are exchanged at the Colorful Bag Exchange at the May 13 meeting.
· Virtual/Remote Brown Bag Exchange via mail.
· Participants choose 400-500 yards of yarn from their own supplies.
· Participants will be matched with a Partner from a selection of other virtual/remote participants, taking into consideration preferences and
