It’s hip to be (granny) square!

In this session you will learn some of the many possible techniques for stitching and assembling modular crochet motifs. We will cover the basics using granny squares and discuss other shapes as time allows. We will also discuss working in the round, joining shapes, changing colors, and reading basic pattern instructions.

You will work on small samples as learning tools.

This class is for anyone with some crochet experience, including familiarity with single and double crochet stitches.

Bring to class:

  • Two or three colors of worsted weight yarn (you’ll only need about 50–75 grams)
  • Preferred size of crochet hook for your yarn (size H, I, or J should work)
  • Yarn/darning needle
  • Any of your other preferred tools (such as scissors, tape measure or ruler, and locking stitch markers)

About the teacher

Anne Lies has been a dedicated fiber-fanatic since her grandmother taught her to crochet at about age 10. Knitting, weaving, spinning, dyeing, and sewing (and too many other passions to name) would follow. If it can be built from yarn or fabric, she’s all in! Anne has taught knitting, crochet, and other fiber arts to adults and children for over 25 years, most recently at DreamBank, Spry Whimsy Fiber Arts, and Sunset Yarn.
