Revolution, Resistance, and Rinker Spy - Ball of Yarn for General Washington

Sheryl Thies retired from a career in healthcare to follow her artistic passion and spend more time outdoors. In addition to designing, she enjoys teaching, and she has authored several knitting and Tunisian crochet books.
While researching knitting during the Revolutionary War era, she stumbled upon women spies, and from there she fell down the “knitting as a spy tool” rabbit hole. Recently, she wrote a play on that topic which, starting in 2024, will be performed in select elementary schools as an adjunct to their American History unit.
She will share with the Guild her journey of spy knitting, including a short video of a production she participated in about the Rinker Spy.
