Description:  The Norwegian Purl, a variation of the conventional Continental purl, is noted for its superior tension control, and ease of execution. The yarn always stays behind the work, making ribbing and seed stitch a breeze! A swatch will be knitted in class to practice this technique and its applications: Proper tensioning of the yarn, the conventional Continental purl and knit stitches, the Norwegian purl, purl garter stitch, ribbing with the Norwegian purl on the right side and on the wrong side.

Tools Needed:

  • Yarn: 1-2 ounces of worsted weight yarn
  • Needles: Size 4.5 mm or 5 mm for worsted yarn, either dpns, straight needles, or a circular needle.  The swatch will be knitted flat.
