Panel Discussion on Inclusion and Diversity in our Knitting Community
In October, the MKG Board will take the opportunity to open a conversation within our membership on an extremely important topic. Programming and Hospitality are working together to bring MKG members an evening of discussion on the topic of inclusion and diversity and on how to attract and make all knitters feel welcome both within our guild and in the larger community of knitters and citizens of the world. As an organization, MKG is committed to reaching out to all knitters with education, acceptance, fellowship, and support. Our panel moderator will be Cecilia Nelson-Hurt fiber artist and Assistant Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion for L'Oreal, USA.
Our Madison area panelists will include Madison Mayor, Satya Rhodes-Conway,UW Director of Community Relations, Brenda Gonzales, Tania Ibarra,a local entrepreneur and found of award-winning organization Step Up:Equity Matters. Rounding out our panel will be Larry Edman, educator, professional weaver and long-time MKG member. Join us on October 14, 2019, as we explore how to achieve these goals for our favorite organization.
