Description

Make mittens warm and comfortable with a hand-knit liner. Class will cover how to knit a liner, how to knit an outer mitten onto a liner, and how to attach a liner as an outer mitten is knit. The outer mitten could be a fabulous Latvian mitten or a plain, one-color mitten with a palm-set thumb. The mitten could have a ribbed cuff, a cuff that uses a special-technique, or a picot-edged hem, as seen on some traditional Latvian-style mittens.  See teacher bio.

NOTE - class is all day with an 1 hour lunch break

Skill level

Intermediate - is recommended. Should have experience on double point needles or working with circular needs on sock/mitten-sized knitting and be able to make simple mittens

Supplies Needed

  • One ball of fingering weight yarn (natural or a light color is best for liner) and one or more balls of sport-weight yarn for outer mitten
  • 1 Set of Double Point Needles (set of 5 needles) in a size somewhere between 1 and 3
  • 1 Set of Double Point Needles 1-2 sizes larger than the size chosen above.
  • Two circular needles or one long circular for magic loop can be used, if preferred.
