Meg Swansen's Knitting Camp (Week 3/Camp Retreat 2)

  • 07/20/2017
  • 07/24/2017
  • Marshfield, WI

2017 will mark 44 years of Knitting Camp

Knitting Camp came into being when Elizabeth Zimmermann began teaching a weekend knitting course at an extension of the University of Wisconsin. Elizabeth passed the torch to her daughter, designer and internationally renowned knitting teacher Meg Swansen, who offers four sessions Thursday through Monday during four weekends in July.

Join Meg Swansen at Knitting Camp in Marshfield, WI where you can fill your toolbox with valuable skills, and  have the opportunity to see iconic original knits by Elizabeth Zimmermann and Meg Swansen.

At Camp Retreat 2, we will review Elizabeth Zimmermann's Percentage System (EPS) for circular, seamless garment construction, as well as other techniques touched on in Camp 1. For those knitters already familiar with EPS and Elizabeth's books, we will explore additional territory based on questions and offer handouts for small projects to knit during class. In past years, we have covered topics such as: double knitting, lace knitting, Armenian knitting, twisted stitch, two-end knitting, Fair Isle knitting and more. As usual, camp is part instruction based and part discussion based. We rely on knitters to bring their technique questions, and we are prepared to converse about any or all techniques the group wishes to discuss.

At Knitting Camp, you can completely immerse yourself in knitting.  Sharing and learning from other campers helps forge lasting friendships bonded by cherished memories. Register early to ensure a seat at this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
