Madison Knitters’ Guild YarnCon & Wool and Company Bus Trip

WHEN: April 11, 2026 – April 11, 2026

DESCRIPTION:

Knit and/or crochet your way on a chauffeured private motor coach bus trip to the YarnCon event in Chicago and Wool and Company yarn shop in South Elgin with fellow Guild members. YarnCon is celebrating nearly 20 years as a market for independent producers of yarn and fiber for knitting, crocheting, spinning and weaving. Spend the morning cruising through 80 vendor booths and then hop back on the bus for a stop as Wool and Company. A visit to Wool and Company is a sure cure for Spring Fever!

Saturday, April 11, 2026:

We will meet the bus at Dutch Mill Park and Ride, US Hwy. 12/18 and US Hwy. 51 (Stoughton Road).

Bus will load at 7:30 A.M.

Bus will depart promptly at 7:45 A.M.

Bus arrives at YarnCon at the Chicago Journeyman Plumbers Union Hall

Lunch will be on your own between 11 and 2. Information about dining options will be available on the bus.

Bus will load for Wool and Company at 2:15 p.m.

Shopping at Wool and Company from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Bus will load at 5:00 p.m. departing immediately afterwards for Madison

Return to Dutch Mill Park & Ride approximately 7pm

FEES: MKG Registration Fee: $60 (This is a trip for Guild Members only)

Fees include chartered bus fee and driver gratuity.

Please bring your own snacks and water for the day.

Session Title: Knitting your sweater!

Description:

You CAN knit a sweater that fits you! We will be checking our gauge swatches and answering any questions you have as you start (or continue) to knit your sweater. Come and have a fun afternoon knitting with your MKG friends.

Experience level required: basic knitting skills

Critters, Critters, Critters (04/25/2026)

Let’s Make Some Critters!

When: April 25, 2026, from 2–4:30 pm
Where: Sequoya Library, 4340 Tokay Blvd, Madison
Location: Conference Rooms A & B

The Madison Knitters Guild creates Critters to support children’s reading programs at the Monona, McFarland, and Edgerton Libraries.

We have also been invited by DAIS (Domestic Abuse Intervention Services) to include their organization as a recipient of Critters.

Two of the libraries have chosen Dinosaurs as their theme, We have some newly tested dinosaur patterns available on the MKG wesite. Of course, all Critters are welcome to join the menagerie!

Community Projects plans to provide safety eyes, yarn—including many types of novelty yarn, stuffing, embroidery floss, felt, and pom-pom makers. Please bring your own knitting needles and/or crochet hooks.
