Description: Interested in weaving but don’t want to make the big investment in a floor loom? Rigid heddle looms are affordable and versatile and a great way to put your stash of knitting yarns to another use! In this full day workshop, we will learn to warp the loom using the direct warping method, hemstitch, and weave a simple, yet beautiful, scarf or cowl to get you familiar with the loom. Other techniques including pick-up and lace will be demonstrated to show the versatility of the loom.

Skill Level: No previous weaving experience required.

Tools Needed: Scissors, tape measure, tapestry (blunt end, large eye) needle. You may also want to bring any yarns from your knitting “stash” that you’d like to incorporate into your project. This will be a great way to use up leftover yarns from knitting projects. Yarns of many colors, textures, and sizes can be combined in your weaving! There is no preparation necessary for this workshop.

Looms will be provided. If students bring their own loom, it must be in excellent operating condition and completely assembled.

Homework: None

Materials Fee: $20 covers the yarn for warp, a workshop booklet, and use of all equipment. Yarn for weft will be available for purchase or students may bring their own.
