Cherle Oberle: Folk Shawls
November 2003 Monthly Meeting:
Cheryl Oberle brought the beautiful shawls from her book Folk Shawls. Feeling that a shawl is a canvas for lace patterns, Cheryl created a wide variety of shawls for the book. She explained that knitted lace has a plain row between rows with yarn-overs; lace knitting has yarn-overs on every row. Average yardage for a large square shawl is 2200-2400 yards, 1000-1200 yards for a triangle, and 1000 yards for a stole.
