Description: Dread picking up stitches?  Whether just picking up a few or hundreds, this can often be a daunting task.  Come learn the basics and some helpful tips for picking up stitches horizontally, vertically, and on a curve.

Supplies Needed: Pen, paper, worsted weight yarn (light color for swatch and contrasting color for picking up), straight needles, stitch markers, tape measure, crochet hook to match gauge of needle.


Homework:
  Knit the swatch below in DK or Worsted weight, light colored yarn. 

Swatch:

- Cast on 60 stitches.

- starting with a purl row do stocking stitch for 7 rows, ending on a purl row.

- Decrease 1: On the next knit row, k1, ssk, knit to end

- Purl row

- Repeat decrease 1 every other row 19 more times (40 stitches), ending on purl row

- Decrease 2: cast off 1, knit to end

- purl row

- repeat decrease 2 every other row 19 more times (20 stitches), ending on purl row

- cast off remaining 20 stitches
