Learn the basics of drafting fibers and adding twist to spindle-spin your own yarns in this three-hour class. We’ll start with the simplest method – finger spinning – and then work in pairs to begin spindle spinning. During the class, we’ll take breaks from spinning and learn about fiber characteristics, choosing fibers for spindle-spinning, how to choose a spindle, and how to match fiber and spindle. Students will practice basic skills and then learn how to control yarn diameter and the amount of twist. We’ll finish by plying two strands of yarn together for a finished yarn. You’ll have whorl*ds of fun. See teacher bio.
