Necessary materials: Tapestry needle and two swatches knit for homework (see below).
Required advance Homework: Create two tiny swatches: using a smooth, light colored medium weight yarn (preferably wool) and appropriately sized straight or double pointed needles, cast on 10 stitches. Knit in stockinette stitch (knit a row, purl a row) for 10 rows. Leave stitches live on a needle with a 12-18” working yarn left hanging. Repeat to create your second, tiny swatch, but add one more knit row to it (11 rows). Bring your two tiny swatches, with stitches live, on two separate needles. If you’re working with straight needles, your working yarn should be hanging at the needle tip on each swatch (if not, just work another row to get it there).
